With the first WrestleMania in 1985, the World Wrestling Federation started a trend that continues to this day — celebrity guests.
Mr.T fought alongside Hulk Hogan in one of the most epics tag team matches in wrestling pay-per-view history. It wouldn’t be long before they started a trend and brought celebrities into the ring for PPV and Live TV shows.
The idea was brilliant because it opened the door to an entirely new audience of viewers. When a celebrity ends up on the WWE, so will his/her fans. Some of them might enjoy the wrestling while others not so much but the few that do might even end up fans for life. Like we said, it is a brilliant idea.
However, for every time it worked, there were several that did not. In fact, there have been plenty of failed celebrity guests that belong in the WWE Hall of Shame.
Here are the worst 20 celebrity guests in WWE history.
Miller Lite Catfight Girls
Event: WrestleMania XIX
Date: March 30, 2003
Appearance: Tanya Ballinger and Kitana Baker are better known as the Miller Lite Cat Fight girls from the infamous Super Bowl commercial. They fought and people lost their minds. So naturally the WWE used them for a pillow fight with Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson. The appearance was bad, the fight was bad, and the story was terrible. That being said, it was one of the most watched moments in WrestleMania history.
The Three Stooges
Event: Raw
Date: April 9, 2012
Appearance: Almost every celebrity on this list made an appearance to promote themselves but when Vince McMahon decided to use the stars of the new Three Stooges reboot, it fell far shorter than ever before. It was incredibly awkward and the audience agreed.
Walter Payton
Event: SummerSlam
Date: August 29, 1994
Appearance: Before drugs and alcohol took him out of wrestling, Razor Ramon was one of the biggest names in the business. During SummerSlam he hired Walter Payton to be in his corner and protect him from any interference from The Diesel. Except, The Diesel is huge and has a reputation for being able to snap people his size like a stick.
Mickey Rourke
Event: WrestleMania XXV
Date: April 5, 2009
Appearance: The buzz surrounding Mickey Rourke’s performance in The Wrestler was that he would win the Oscar for Best Actor at the Academy Awards. However, before the Academy Awards even had a chance to finish voting, Chris Jericho signed on for a feud with Mickey Rourke which apparently caused such a negative effect on his likability that he ended up losing and then pretty much didn’t care about the WWE anymore.
Jerry Springer
Event: Raw
Date: Multiple appearance but September 8, 2014 was by far the worst
Appearance: Any fighting between the Bella Twins is far from realistic but having Jerry Springer step in and film a segment that rivaled his TV show about their feud, that was just plain predictable. The twins are hot but their acting skills are below average at best.
Al Sharpton
Event: Raw
Date: September 29, 2009
Appearance: If you bring in a celebrity to host your television show in front of a live arena crowd of nearly 40,000 screaming lunatics, you better bring in a person they want to see. Rev. Al Sharpton received so many boos, it was hard to understand why he was even on the show.
Cee-Lo Green
Event: SummerSlam
Date: August 14, 2011
Appearance: Cee Lo Green was added to SummerSlam in 2011 for one reason, to sing. He sang alright. He sang twice and took nearly 40 minutes of Pay-Per-View air time away from the audience that paid $55 for some wrestling matches.
Insane Clown Posse
Event: SummerSlam
Date: August 30, 1998
Appearance: If you remember this PPV, then you can recall how they weren’t terrible but then again, they weren’t great either. In fact, their performance was something that belonged on late night TV, not a PPV.
ZZ Top
Event: Raw
Date: July 20, 2009
Appearance: It was like they didn’t give a crap about the WWE. It clearly shows from the way they speak to the wrestlers that they did not care about anything except getting a paycheck from Mr.Vince.
Chuck Norris
Event: Survivor Series
Date: November 23, 1994
Appearance: Long before people came up with funny things to say about Chuck Norris, he was nothing more than a joke that everyone was in on. He was anything but intimidating back in 1994, the days of Walker, Texas Ranger.
Drew Carey
Event: Royal Rumble
Date: January 21, 2001
Appearance: Why? Just, why would he be on the Royal Rumble?
Leslie Nielsen
Event: SummerSlam
Date: August 29, 1994
Appearance: Leslie Nielsen was on SummerSlam but it was exactly what you would imagine as he reenacted just about every Naked Gun bit you could imagine.
Perez Hilton
Event: Raw
Date: January 16, 2012
Appearance: All Perez Hilton cares about is how popular he is at all times. He was more worried about trending worldwide than bringing any actual value to the WWE back in 2012.
Kevin Federline
Event: Cyber Sunday
Date: November 6, 2006
Appearance: If there was anyone that didn’t belong on television, it is Kevin Federline. The douchiest douche in the history of douches once wore a shirt that he himself autographed. Yeah, that guy,
John Bobbit
Event: Raw
Date: August 10, 1998
Appearance: If you’re unfamiliar, John Bobbitt is famous for having his penis cut off by his angry wife, Lorena back in 1989. The WWE decided to have John as a guest almost ten years after his notoriety faded. The storyline was that Val Venis was kidnapped and apparently had his penis cut off only to set up a joint press conference with John Wayne Bobbitt to discuss it. What? What were they thinking?
Kid Rock
Event: WrestleMania XXV
Date: April 5, 2009
Appearance: There is nothing sadder than a musician performing to an arena full of people that could care less about him. Kid Rock kept trying to get everyone amped up but he failed to do any of it.
Kim Kardashian
Event: WrestleMania XXIV
Date: March 30, 2008
Appearance: People don’t like Kim Kardashian because she sells herself out to the highest bidder, of anything. It could be shoes, diet food, clothing, mobile games, or a chance to read the attendance at WrestleMania XXIV. She earned $25,000 to read the attendance and go home. She isn’t even worth a penny so why hire her to do that?
Jared Fogle
Event: Raw
Date: September 17, 2012
Appearance: The WWE can only hope to erase his appearance on Raw back in 2012 now that he has been imprisoned for being a child molester.
Donald Trump
Event: WrestleMania IV, V, VII, XX, 23
Date: March 27, 1988 – April 1, 2007 (5 times)
Appearance: Did the man running for President of the United States once fight Vince McMahon in a battle of the billionaires? He didn’t do much fighting, but he did have others do it for him.
Grumpy Cat
Event: Raw
Date: November 17, 2014
Appearance: A cat? Really WWE?
