14-Year-Old Girl Shoots a 12-Under Par 60 in a Golf Tournament, Ruins My Entire Day
To be honest, I feel bad about myself. I’ve been pumped that I am shooting in the 70s fairly consistently this year. Thinking my game is finally decent again after living in New York City blew it to bits. Meanwhile, Paphangkorn “Patty” Tavatanakit, a 14-year-old girl from Thailand, just removed all the wind from my sails. Tavatanakit shot a 12-under par 60 at the Callaway Junior World Championship at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo in San Diego on Wednesday. See what I mean? Wind = GONZO.
Sure, the length of the course was only 5800 yards, but shooting a bogey free, 12-under par 60 on that length is no guarantee. I don’t care who you are. For a 14-year-old girl/boy, 5800 yards is like an adult playing 7000. On the bright side, she at least had a bogey and only shot a 65 in round one.
Tavatanakit holds a nine-shot lead going into the final round of the 54 hole tournament.
