Aaron Rodgers Wants To Slash Beer Prices At Packers Games To Get Fans Loud AF And I’m 100% On Board

An NFL stadium is one of the most electric atmospheres on the planet when the fans are charged up, standing, and cheering loudly for their team. But when they are sitting down, quiet, and fans are yelling ‘down in the front’ to the ONE GUY who is amped up then the game can feel like a giant wet fart.

I’ve experienced the latter at the last Tampa Bay Buccaneers playoff game I went to. It was like the entire section I was sitting in had forgotten that it was the fucking playoffs and the team feeds off the energy of the fans. They were perfectly content to sit in their seats and eat pretzels in silence. It was pathetic, and that was probably the last time I went to a Bucs game in Tampa (2007).

But if the Bucs were to implement Aaron Rodgers‘ idea for beer prices at Lambeau Field then I could see myself becoming a season ticket holder pretty quickly. Rodgers believes the key to a louder stadium is lowering the beer prices when the defense is on the field so the fans are drinking more beer (because it’s cheaper) and getting louder for the team.

Rodgers had this to say: “I’m up for anything that’s gonna get the fans as loud as possible,” Rodgers said. “Maybe slash some beer prices or something, would be a good idea.”

This is a good idea. It might not fit with the ‘drink responsibly’ mantra but it’s a good way to get the fans into it and feel like they are a bigger part of the game.

The thing is, as far as beer prices go at professional sports games, the price of beer at Lambeau Field really isn’t bad. Last year, a 16-ounce can of domestic beer cost only $8.25 which seems like a steal at a stadium. The Packers are home to the 12th cheapest beer in the NFL and only $.08 above the league average of $8.17 but they are somehow the 15th most expensive on a per-ounce basis at $0.52/ounce.

Currently, the Packers are using this ‘Rumbling Fart Horn’ to try and gets fans amped up:

This outrageous horn that nobody seems like is the spark that led to Aaron Rodgers speaking out about beer prices and given his influence with the team I wouldn’t be shocked to see them try and implement this at some point, if only for a game, just to see how it goes. (h/t Extra Mustard)
