Alabama’s Star O-Lineman Arrested On Felony Charges, And That’s Not Good For His NFL Draft Stock

Cam Robinson, a former 5-star recruit and by far the best player on the University of Alabama’s O-Line, is now facing felony charges and an NFL future hanging in the balance.

Robinson, who was projected without a shadow of a doubt to be a first round selection in next year’s NFL Draft, was arrested and booked in Louisiana in the early hours of Tuesday morning when officers investigated a car reeking with the stench of marijuana, and found the left tackle alongside his teammate, Hootie Jones, with a gun sitting on his lap.

Real smart, bro.

AL.com broke the news of the arrests:

Robinson and defensive back Hootie Jones were both charged with possession of narcotics in their hometown of West Monroe. The charges were more serious for Robinson, a potential first-round draft pick next season.

Along with misdemeanor possession, Robinson was also charged with felony illegal possession of stolen firearms.

Robinson remains in jail as of Tuesday morning with a $750 bond, according to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff Office.

The arrest occurred early Tuesday morning in a parking lot of a local park. According to the police report, officers pulled up to Robinson’s car ar 2:33 a.m. smelling marijuana.

When approaching the vehicle, officers spotted a handgun on the lap of the passenger. A bag of marijuana was also observed on the driver’s side floorboard. The stolen handgun was located under Robinson’s seat.

Jones and Robinson were also charged with possessing a handgun in the presence of narcotics. The charges were filed at 4:02 a.m.According to Louisiana state law, punishment for a conviction on stolen weapon possession calls for jail time “for not less than one year nor more than five years.”

Stupidity level is literally unreal with this one. Kid’s got three weeks off from school before Memorial Day, and the best way to spend that vacation is rolling around getting high and carrying a stolen firearm with him, because you never know when a shootout is gonna break out, right?

Now he’s facing 1 to 5 years. And to think, people are willing to pay him MILLIONS to play a damn game…
