How Badly Did the Umpires Screw the Oakland A’s Last Night?

For some reason, Hernandez ruled a home run off the bat of A’s shortstop Adam Rosales that would have tied the game in the ninth inning hadn’t gone over the wall. Hey, common mistake. That can be a hard call for an umpire running out to see something happening 100 feet way. But then he stuck with the incorrect call after consulting replays which clearly indicated it was, in fact, a home run.

A’s manager Bob Melvin was predictably upset and got ejected.

He dutifully pointed out that the umpires were the only ones in the entire world who couldn’t tell the ball had hit a railing well above the yellow line.

I mean, I don’t even know what to say here except it was criminally unfair.
