This week just got a little more complicated for Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett after Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Antwaun Woods was reportedly arrested on Tuesday.

The NFL Network‘s Ian Rappaport is reporting that Dallas Cowboys DT Antwaun Woods was charged with possession of more than 2 ounces of marijuana (but less than 4), tampering with evidence, and possession of paraphernalia.

Rappaport tweeted this morning that he received this information from the Frisco PD. Woods was already ruled out for the NFL‘s Thursday Night Football game against Chicago but this is just another headache for the Dallas Cowboys organization who appears to be on the cusp of a head coaching change.

Should he have been arrested for possession of marijuana? Well, hell no. It shouldn’t be illegal in the first place but Texas has some of the strictest Cannabis laws around and there’s no ignoring that. You can’t just break the law because something’s legal a few states over.

It was about a month ago that Antwaun Woods was sent home (along with rookie Trysten Hill) by Jason Garrett for being late to a team meeting so this could be the second strike for him with the Dallas Cowboys this season.

Why exactly does that matter right now? Well, this is also a contract year for Antwaun Woods and to be sent home from a meeting for being late and then to be charged with possession on a week when you’re missing a game due to injury is NOT a good look when you’re trying to get PAID with a long-term contract. He currently has a base salary of $570,000 this season, up from $480,000 in his rookie year, so he stands to get PAID if this blows over.

Dak Prescott is only 6-8 on the road since 2018 and the 6-6 Cowboys will face the 6-6 Bears in Chicago on TNF with both teams in the hunt for the playoffs.
