What a day for ‘Big Sexy’ Bartolo Colon. First, the New York Post blows up his spot, reporting that the 42-year-old New York Mets pitcher has a son and a daughter with a woman other than his wife that no one knew about, then Darren Rovell reported that Colon will be trying to trademark the ‘Big Sexy’ nickname given to him by teammates last season.

The New York Post article mentions that the news of Colon’s secret son and daughter would’ve been kept under wraps had Bartolo hired a lawyer and not tried to represent himself in the court case where his former lover and mother of his secret offspring is suing Colon for not paying child support.
Bartolo’s wife, whom he met when he was 13 in the Dominican Republic, apparently knows about the other children her husband has. She and Bartolo both became US citizens in 2014 and have four sons of their own. And, after seeing the 30 for 30 on professional athletes going broke, I hope Bart-man has a legit financial advisor. Otherwise, we could be seeing him doing Gold Bond and Icy Hot commercials like Shaq.
As for the trademark application, FOX Sports reports it happened in mid-April, but it was Rovell’s tweet that caught heat from those familiar with WWE / WCW / NWO wrestler Kevin Nash, who went by ‘Big Sexy’ and ‘Big Daddy Cool’ back in the day. My hope is that Nash catches on this news and organizes a tag team event where he and Colon partner up to take on Bryce Harper and Razor Ramon at Summer Slam.
