Chiefs’ Marcus Peters Throws Ref’s Penalty Flag Into The Stands, Then Bizarrely Leaves The Field Despite Not Being Ejected

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters was fed up with the refs late in the Chiefs-Jets game on Sunday. Watch as Peters picks up a refs flag and throws into the stands after he was called for a holding penalty with less than two minutes left in the game.

For whatever reason Peters thought he was ejected and ran off the field into the locker room. The NFL later went on to clarify that Peters had not been ejected from the game.

NFL says Marcus Peters was not ejected from the game officially. He left game after tossing a penalty flag into the crowd. Walked right out

The Chiefs eventually gave up a touchdown while Peters was in the locker room.

Update: Peters bizarrely returned to the sidelines minutes later with no socks on.

Update: According to Mike Garoffolo a Chiefs staffer had escorted Peters to the lockerroom.

A Chiefs staffer escorted him off the field. Maybe some confusion and the whole team thought he’d gotten ejected?

The entire situation is pretty fucking bizarre. Hopefully we’ll get an explanation by Peters on why he abruptly left the field despite not getting ejected by the refs on the field.
