Will he fight again or not? That’s been the pressing question regarding Conor McGregor ever since he hit the jackpot with his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.

Just recently, even UFC President Dana White didn’t know whether McGregor would ever fight again, much to the chagrin of all the folks who really miss seeing McGregor fighting inside the octagon. He was just SO good at it, it seems like such a waste if he doesn’t return to MMA.

“Listen … Conor might never fight again. The guy’s got a f*cking hundred million dollars,” said White at a media lunch.

Turns out though, at least according to “The Notorious One” himself, he will, in fact, be fighting again in 2018… probably.

Speaking with his sponsor Betsafe, McGregor had this to say (via The Mac Life)…

“My focus is getting back into the right ring or octagon. 2017 was historic. I have transcended both the sport of MMA and boxing,” McGregor said. “At this stage of my career, as it has been for the majority of my UFC career, potential opponents must lobby for fights with me. We could see Conor McGregor anywhere. I run the fight game, the fashion game, the whiskey game, or whatever the next business endeavour might be.

“I have every intention of fighting in 2018 if my compensation and business development endeavours accurately reflect my influence on combat sports.”

If McGregor is expecting to make anywhere near the money he made for fighting Mayweather then, sorry, his career is done. If he just wants to prove that he’s still the king of MMA, then perhaps we will actually get to see him fight again rather than just making tabloid headlines.

Should we believe him? Is he really going to fight again? Well, as Dana White so wisely pointed out, “Fighting is the worst. Try to get up and get punched in the face every day when you’ve got $100 million in the bank.”
