The Crazy Amount Of Cash Conor McGregor Spent On Training For Nate Diaz Rematch Shows He’s Out For Revenge

Like many great athletes, Conor McGregor is obsessed with his profession, as he’ll do nearly anything to make sure he remains at the high level that he’s achieved to this point in his career. And the UFC star won’t let some pricey expenses stop him from getting there.

Preparing for his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on August 20th, McGregor—who lost to Diaz in a welterweight contest earlier this year—has plenty of motivation to get revenge, which is why he’s training like crazy to do just that.

According to ESPN, McGregor estimates that his total bill for training is around $300,000:

Preparations have taken place in Dublin, Iceland and Las Vegas. The 27-year-old has been relatively isolated in the desert since early July. Doing so, with a full camp, has not been cheap.

“With gyms, cars, transport, flights, accommodations — I’d estimate we’re talking a $300,000 camp here,” McGregor told ESPN.

“This is a big, big expense — but what I make is big. So, in the bigger picture, it’s rather small.”

“This is most certainly not another fight,” McGregor said. “I have done things differently this fight. We have been going to war every single day in the gym in preparation for this. So, this is a war to me.”

While the Irishman reportedly cashed-in on his previous fight with Diaz—it’s believed he earned $1 million in the loss—he’s happy to drop dime to make sure he doesn’t sustain another defeat to his opponent, writing checks to make sure he’s prepared in the best way possible.
