Dak Prescott had a brain fart during the coin toss before the Cowboys-Rams game on Sunday that put his team in a disadvantage to start both halves.
The Cowboys won the toss, and Prescott said he wanted to kick the ball instead of deferring which ended up allowing the Rams to get the ball to start the game and to start the second half.
After winning the toss, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott told the official they wanted to kick and did not say “we’ll defer.” Thus, the Cowboys kicked off to begin the game and will kick off to start the second half.

Dak Prescott didn’t use the word “defer” after Dallas won the pregame coin toss. Because of that, the Rams started the game with the ball and will receive to start the 2nd half. pic.twitter.com/VJDeGIIoTo

Update: Fox released new audio that shows Prescott did say “defer” but only after he said “kick” several times which apparently confused the referee.
