There must have been something in the air on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 when it came to the NFL. You had the AJ Green vs. Jalen Ramsey brawl. You had three players ejected in the 49ers vs. Cardinals game for fighting. And you had another brawl in the Bucs vs. Saints game where Mike Evans CAME OUTTA NOWHERE to blast Marshon Lattimore after he got into a tiff with an injured Jameis Winston.
And that was just ON the field.
OFF the field another beef war got started when Tony Romo made a remark while calling the Cowboys-Chiefs game when after seeing Chiefs DB Marcus Peters make a “business decision” on a tackle Romo said Peters “makes Deion Sanders look good at tackling sometimes.”
Ruh roh.
As anyone who follows the NFL knows, Sanders is a part of the post-game show on NFL Network so he has a forum to fire back at comments like that if he so chooses. And Sanders so chose.
Here’s what Prime Time had to say, reports the Washington Post…
“Tony, I tried my best to take the high road,” Sanders said on the NFL Network, “but I don’t know the address to the high road, so I got to come at you, man. Ten years as a starter, you’re 2-4 in the playoffs. You ain’t won nuthin’. I tried to bury the hatchet. Both of us work for CBS; I went and shook your hand and said, ‘Tony, you’re doing a great job this year.’ But nevertheless, you keep on shovin’ at me. Tony, what’s going on?”
At that point, Sanders was rolling and, well, the Hall of Fame, Dak Prescott, soul-crushing interceptions and “the big one” came up.
“I got a gold jacket that I didn’t buy. Dak says, ‘hi’ and ‘bye,’” he continued. “Tony, leave me alone, man. I got lots of ammunition, man. How many interceptions [he asks to an off-camera person]? 19 in 2012? Come on, man. You threw to everyone but me! Tony, come on, man. You know you never won the big one. You know you never won the big one, so stop, man, and leave me alone. I tried to take the high road, but I don’t know the address. I tried.”
