To Feed An NFL Team You Need Over 1,500 Pounds Of Meat And 500+ Pounds Of Veggies A WEEK

The Buffalo Bills have 17 players on their team who weigh 300 pounds or more. So to feed an entire NFL team made up of similar behemoths it takes a ton of food. Literally over a ton of food. ESPN detailed the food that is prepared for the Buffalo Bills and holy fuck beans, it is a shit-ton of food! To feed a team of 53 players on the active roster, 10 players on the practice squad, plus coaches, support staff, and everyone else in the organization it takes over 1,500 pounds of meat and more than 500 pounds of veggies. That’s not in a year, that’s only what the Bills eat in ONE week.

The Bills’ cafeteria serves about 250 people per day and features a menu heavy on protein. The Bills’ kitchen cooks 24 rotisserie chickens each day, which breaks down to about 700 pounds of chicken each week. Chicken not your thing? The Bills offer grass-fed beef imported from New Zealand and serve up to 600 pounds of beefy goodness per week. For the pescatarians, Bills players scarf down more than 250 pounds of fish each week that includes choices such as salmon, cod, tilapia, sea bass, and halibut.

For fruits and vegetables, the team serves up 60 pounds of broccoli a day, 50 bunches of asparagus a day, and 56 pounds of strawberries per day. There’s also a stir-fry station where vegetables are seared and served, plus there is a salad and soup bar. In addition, there is a smoothie bar that serves up to 60 shakes each day. The premade 24-ounce smoothies include the “body composition” shake which is a mix of pineapple, kale, almond butter and lemon fish oil. There is also the “vanilla thrilla” shake made up of strawberries, banana, vanilla whey, chia seeds, flax seeds, almond milk and almond butter.

All that eating can make one thirsty. The Bills pound approximately 52 cases of water each week. After practice, players consume Gatorade and Pedialyte for electrolytes. There’s even shot glasses of spices and liquids to help painful joints. There is a shooter called the “veteran” which includes turmeric, lemon, apple cider, and cayenne. “It’s highly anti-inflammatory,” said assistant strength and conditioning coach Will Greenberg. “You have your old guys that are beat up, it’s, ‘Hey, get yourself a veteran shot.'”

To serve all that food, the cafeteria staff usually shows up to work around 4 a.m. and don’t finish until 7 that night. Check out ESPN to read the entire article and find out the insane amount of food that is served at the Bills’ cafeteria.
