The average male in the United States is, depending on your source, is around 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds. Floyd Mayweather’s height and weight is widely reported as being 5-foot-8 and 151 pounds. So, despite the fact that he is one of the toughest men on the planet, he’s really not very big. It’s something I and probably many others forget when we see him go toe-to-toe with fighters both in and out of the ring.

Today, however, we were granted a reminder of that fact in a very big way as someone on Reddit shared a photo of Mayweather surrounded by his bodyguards. His REALLY, REALLY big bodyguards.

As one commenter put it, “by ‘bodyguards’ you mean ‘hired bullet sponges.'”

Another commenter shared an old article about the TMT bodyguard team which actually listed their heights and weights.

They four men in that article were listed at…
— 7’1″ and 430 lbs.
— 6’7″ and 380 lbs.
— 6’5″ and 400 lbs.
— 6’3″ and 260 lbs.

No wonder Mayweather looks like a little kid in that photo. The four guys in the article weighed in at a combined 1,470 pounds and these guys don’t look like they’re any smaller.

The reason for this “Great Wall” as Mayweather called them is because he often carries around over $1 million in cash, as we all do, right?

“It’s just normal that he has the biggest bodyguards as well,” said Richard Schaefer, the chief executive of Golden Boy Promotions, a Mayweather business partner. “It wouldn’t fit otherwise.”

Think it’s odd that one of the toughest men in the world surrounds himself with so many large men for protection? Without them how many times to you think idiots out there would want to flex their beer muscles to see just how tough Floyd really is if given a free shot? Makes a lot more sense now, doesn’t it?
