Tonight law enforcement has identified a man shot dead in New Orleans on Saturday night as former Saints defensive end Will Smith, according to NOLA.com.
According to police, Smith was killed and his wife was shot in the leg in a New Orleans double shooting on Saturday night.
Smith had shared an Instagram picture earlier today that showed him celebrating at this weekend’s French Quarter fest in New Orleans.
Smith last played for the Saints in 2013, and according to Smith’s personal website, he was working on becoming an FBI agent during in his post-football career.
Update: According to police, Smith was shot and killed after getting into an argument with a man who rear-ended his car. The man who shot Smith is in police custody.
