Lt. Henry Reimann, Hillsboro police spokesman, said officers encountered Lyerla in the 1700 block of Northeast Parkside Drive after someone about 11:15 a.m. called about a man overdosing on drugs.

Reimann said officers and paramedics found Lyerla “awake and responsive.” While being escorted to an ambulance, Lyerla attempted to flee but was caught shortly, Reimann said. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and will be booked into the Washington County jail after his release from the hospital, Reimann said

Lyerla will now face a felony count of second-degree escape in addition to the existing charges, which include the use of counterfeit currency and heroin possession.
