Going into the 2017/2018 NFL season everyone expected the New York Jets to be the dumpster fire time in the NYC area. The Jets are 4-5, just one win away from .500 and the New York Giants are a total disaster at 1-7 (.125).

The Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers have yet to win a game this season but the Giants are equally as shitty and things are only getting worse. According to a report from ESPN Josina Anderson, two Giants players speaking on the condition of anonymity have claimed the team’s given up on head coach Ben McAdoo, that they’re only giving 80%, and that the coach has totally ruined their schedule:

“McAdoo has lost this team,” one player who asked to remain anonymous told Anderson. “He’s got us going 80 percent on Saturdays before we get on a plane to play a game. It’s wild. Changed our off day. He’s dishing out fines like crazy. Suspended two of our stars when we need them the most. Throws us under the bus all the time. He’s ran us into the ground and people wonder why we’ve been getting got.”
A second player who also requested anonymity told Anderson: “Guys are giving up on the season and nothing’s being done. Guys just don’t care anymore.” (via)

As a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I can definitely believe this to be the truth. I’m 100 certain my team’s given up on this season as well, especially after QB Jameis Winston went for evaluation by Dr. James Andrews (the infamous Tommy John Surgery doctor). Why would a player on a team with 0-2 wins halfway through the season want to risk injury (and his career) when there’s zero chance of making the playoffs? It sucks when you’re a fan and it happens on your team but I don’t blame players for it, I’d do the same thing.
