Less than a week after Holly Holm’s agent Lenny Fresquez went on the record as saying, “We don’t PLAN on taking Ronda’s belt, we ARE taking her belt,” his client took on a completely different tone: killing the UFC Champion with kindness.
Holm, the 19-time boxing champion, pulled at my heart strings a bit, giving due respect to Rousey and what she’s done for women’s sports. As much as I love Rowdy Ronda (and she loves me), I can’t say I loathe Holm as I did Bethe Correia. Fuck Beth Correia.
With the fight more than five months away, it remains to be seen if the dialogue gets a bit more antagonizing as the match nears. I, for one, hope one calls the other a weak, worthless piece of shit. It’s provocative. It’s what the people want.
