Jameis Winston Tells Jim Harbaugh That He Got ‘Hooked Up,’ Didn’t Steal Crab Legs From Publix Last Year

Jameis Winston was featured on lasnt night’s “Draft Academy” on ESPN, and during the show Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh pushed Winston to explain the incident in which he was caught on a security camera taking crab legs from a Publix grocery store.

Jameis opened up to Harbaugh and told him that he hadn’t stolen tha crab legs, but instead had a hook up inside the store who would give it to him for free.

“Well, a week before it was my buddy’s birthday and we had got a cake and we met a dude that worked inside Publix and he told me. ‘Hey, anytime you come in here, I got you.’” “So that day we just walked out and he hooked us up with that.

“And when I went in to get crab legs, did the same thing and he just gave them to me and I walked out. Someone from inside the store had told the security that I didn’t pay for them, and that’s how the whole thing started.”

The story does seem to make sense. It seems likely that Jameis took the rap instead of admitting that he had gotten free food, because that could be construed as a violation of NCAA rules.

Of course, getting “hooked up” is still technically stealing and Jameis should have known better considering what was at stake last season.
