Say It Ain’t So!? Maria Sharapova Admitted To Failing A Drug Test

Women’s tennis goddess Maria Sharapova is one of the richest females athletes in the world. She also happens to have the longest legs in the world, allegedly. But now? Now Maria is facing a possible suspension after admitting to failing a drug test at the Australian Open.

Apparently the devious drug of note was Meldonium, which is a drug that apparently assists in both mental and physical performance, and something Sharapova had been taking since 2006 without knowing it had just become a banned substance by the World Anti-Doping Agency at the beginning of this year.

To summarize succinctly:

“A few days ago I received a letter from the (International Tennis Federation) that I failed a drug test at the Australian Open. I did fail the test and take full responsibility for it.”

Wow, this sounds exactly like A-Rod’s press conference, except the exact opposite.

Cheers to Sharapova for being completely honest and transparent about the ordeal.

I know, I know — honesty, transparency — these are not the kind of words that are typically strung together when it comes to a professional athlete discussing any kind of failed drug test.

Embrace it while you can.
