The New York Yankees had their 2017 home opener yesterday and laid the smack down on my beloved Tampa Bay Rays. How bad were the Rays getting beat down in the Bronx? Yankees pitcher Pineda was working a perfect game going into the 7th inning.

As is the case with ever Yankees game and especially the home opener, there were a shit ton of celebrities in attendance yesterday. Going into the 7th, Martha Stewart fired off this tweet about the Yankees pitching hurling a perfect game. As you know, baseball is amongst the most superstitious sports out there and you NEVER, EVER, EVER talk about a pitcher throwing a perfect game or no-hitter unless you want to jinx them:

After that tweet, Rays’ All-Star third baseman Evan Longoria broke up Pineda’s perfect game with a double after Pineda had retired 20 batters in a row. Many fans are calling Martha Stewart the jinx, and I’m not sure I disagree:

As you can see, Yankees fans weren’t too happy with Martha Stewart for allegedly jinxing the perfect game. Being a Tampa Bay Rays fan (yes, there are dozens of us!), I’m perfectly happy with Martha Stewart’s derailment. However, the New York Yankees piled on 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th after Cobb imploded and Pruitt gave up the runs. So perfect game or not, Martha Stewart and other Yankees fans should be pretty fucking pleased with the game they witnessed yesterday in the Bronx for the team’s home opener.
