Maryland Will Play In Patriotic Uniforms With The Star-Spangled Banner And They Are A Freedom Boner

Oh say can you see how SICK these uniforms are? Sometimes I wonder if Nike and Under Armor graphic designers can do anything ekse with college football uniforms. Then they come out swinging. The flashy uniform game has exploded in the social media era, with pretty much every team going for broke with a publicity grab on whatever is in-vogue for the school at the time. In a sport that loves its traditions, I think it’s a sick one.

What the University of Oregon is to Nike, the University of Maryland is to Under Armour. Paying homage to the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore, Under Armor designed uniforms with Francis Scott Key’s poem that was inspired by the event, which later turned into our national anthem, the “Star-Spangled Banner.” The logo on the helmet is the outline of Fort McHenry, with the American flag filling the inside.

CBS notes that Saturday will mark exactly 200 years since the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. That’s a nice touch. Way to go UMD for winning the college football fashion show thus far this season. Crabcakes and football…. That’s Maryland does.
