Sacramento Kings’ Forward Matt Barnes Accused Of Choking A Woman At An NYC Nightclub

In just over a decade, Sacramento Kings small forward  and career journeyman Matt Barnes has played for nine different NBA teams. He’s moved into more cities than Chipotle largely due to his erratic behavior. Most recently, the 36-year-old is wanted for questioning for allegedly choking a woman in a New York City night club early Monday morning.

According to the New York Post,

Witnesses told the NYPD that Barnes also punched another woman and a man who tried to intervene at Avenue nightclub about 3:20 a.m., sources said.

The first woman is “possibly a girlfriend” of Barnes, cops said. The other two alleged victims were at a neighboring table when they tried to help, law enforcement sources said.

By the time officers arrived at the club, Barnes had left.

Two of the alleged victims were treated for minor injuries at Lenox Hill Hospital, sources said.

Here’s a video of Barnes with Kings teammate DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins can be heard shouting, “Hey, the n*gga was trying to choke Matt, I hit the shit out this n*gga!”

A rep for the Sacramento Kings could not be immediately reached for comment Monday.

Barnes made national headlines last October when he drove 95 miles to ‘beat the shit’ out of Derek Fisher for romancing his estranged wife, Gloria Govan.

Looks like Fisher got the last laugh.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
