One of the most recent surprises of the NBA season has been the rise of Miami Heat backup center Hassan Whiteside. Whiteside has long been considered a real project in NBA circles, but lately has been showing why teams have refused to give up on him. This afternoon against the Bulls, Whiteside went for a rare triple-double featuring blocks, racking up 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 blocks in 25 minutes. After the game, Whiteside flashed his sense of humor as well — although he’s probably being somewhat serious here, too. In his postgame interview he told everyone what has been motivating him lately: he’s just trying to get his NBA 2K rating up.

You’ve got to love the honesty — nobody wants their player to suck in the game. If Hassan keeps playing like he has as of late, his ratings are sure to be on their way up quickly.
