Pro Bowler Michael Bennett Fires Some Serious Shots At Steph Curry For His Overpriced Bball Camp

This Summer marks the 4th year in a row that Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowler Michael Bennett has hosted a youth football camp in Hawaii, Oahu to be specific, which is noteworthy because Oahu is also the location of Steph Curry’s 4-day basketball camp this Summer. In a recent interview with KHON2, the 7-year NFL veteran and 2015 Pro Bowl Defensive MVP took some SERIOUS shots at Steph Curry for being greedy as hell.

Why did he take these shots at Steph? Well, while Michael Bennett offers his Summer football camp for Hawaii’s youth FOR FREE other athletes like Steph Curry aren’t doing the same, in fact Curry is charging $2,250 for a 4-day camp. I’m not being hyperbolic here at all, Michael Bennett singled out Steph Curry as someone who doesn’t understand the meaning of having too much, and who doesn’t give a flying fuck about giving back.

Bennett expect others to do the same. The seven-year NFL veteran took special exception to a camp in Laie hosted by Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, the reigning NBA MVP hosted a four-day camp on the campus of BYU-Hawaii that charged overnight campers $2,250.
“I see a lot of different athletes come through Hawaii whether it’s Steph Curry or whoever it is,” Bennett quipped. “They all come here and it makes me mad, because I live in this community and I understand this community — that there’s so many kids who can’t afford to pay such a high amount of money. In my mind it’s like, how much money do you need before you start giving back for free? And I think a lot of athletes should start focusing on that.”
Bennett, who will host his fourth-annual free camp on Oahu this weekend, had more strong criticism of Curry.
“If you do have a camp and you charge money for it, you need to make sure that money that you take from this community, you give back to the kids that are paying for the camp. These are the kids that live here. When you leave Hawaii and you go back to wherever you’re at, or you come here and you go back from this vacation you leave with a piece of paradise, but these people still live here every day.”

I’m not sure how/why/when Michael Bennett and Steph Curry would ever cross paths, other than maybe next Summer at a dope ass restaurant in Oahu, so I don’t really expect things to escalate further from here. And from everything I’ve seen, heard, and read about Steph Curry he’s actually a pretty stand up guy, so I’m not sure he’s charging those kids all that money because he can use a few thousand here or there.

Taking his gripe public before talking to Steph Curry about the ‘right way’ to do things in Hawaii seems a bit short-sighted on Michael Bennett’s behalf. I feel like had he approached Curry in private, got him on the phone and explained to him how things work maybe Steph would’ve immediately donated all that money to a local charity or something like that, but instead Bennett took some very public and direct shots at Curry out of nowhere. I’m not sure how I feel about that, but Bennett definitely has a point, a lot of Hawaiian children live on or near the poverty line but they still deserve a memorable Summer camp experience just like the kids whose dads drive BMWs.

What do you bros think, did Michael Bennett do the right thing by calling Curry out publicly or should they have discussed this stuff behind closed doors first?
