Mike Trout Is Finally Getting His Own House After Living With His Parents Since, Well, Forever

He’s the best ballplayer on the planet and one of the richest athletes in sports, but it took until recently for L.A. Angels star Mike Trout to finally make the leap out of his parents’ house and snag his own pad.

Trout, who’s a one-time AL MVP and regarded as the second-coming of Mickey Mantle, had been living with his parents in their New Jersey home even after inking an absurd six-year, $144.5 million extension in 2014, never seeing the point of getting his own place—other than the fact that, you know, he was Mike Fucking Trout.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Trout’s dad talked about his son’s move, which, apparently, isn’t too far from where he’s coming from, as the 300-acre estate is just minutes from his parents’ place.

Per Buzzfeed:

“It’s just where he wants to be,” Trout’s father, Jeff Trout, said. “He’s a family guy. He loves his [three-legged] dog. He’s close with his mother. He has a great group of friends here he’s had since he was a little kid. He’s very tight with his brother and sister and he loves his niece and nephew. He grew up fishing and hunting and clamming these woods and these waters.”

While other athletes flaunt their lavish lifestyle and spend like they’re untouchable, it’s pretty cool to see an athlete as successful and big as Mike Trout keeping things simple—even if his first home is bigger than anything any of us could even imagine.
