It appears we have another Catfish situation in the football world. The New York Giants have asked NFL security to look into the woman who claimed she was the fiance of wide receiver Odell Beckham. The LSU product claims the two are not in a relationship and have never met.
“The entire story is fabricated,” Beckham told Radar. “I have never been engaged. I don’t have any children. And I have never met this person who is making these claims.”
Yesterday, Radar trumpeted an exclusive with the woman, Erica Mendez, who described a torrid three-year romance with Beckham. She claimed the two had a child together and that he showered her with gifts when not gallivanting around the globe in bliss.
The only problem, it seems, is that this is news to Beckham.
If what he says is true, fabricating a story like this is a bold-flavored move. Did she learn nothing from the mistakes of Lennay Kekua? People look into this stuff now.
Something tells me Beckham’s teammates aren’t going to have to look hard to find something to razz him about when they report to camp.
