Paul Pierce Looked Absolutely Miserable As LeBron James And The Cavs Blow Out The Celtics On His Retirement Day

Before today, Paul Pierce was extremely excited to have his number retired by the Boston Celtics at the Garden this afternoon after the Celtics-Cavs game.

When I get to this day, it came so fast,” Pierce said. “I remember like yesterday, the day (Celtics co-owner) Wyc (Grousbeck) called me and was like we want to retire your jersey and I’m like, ‘Really? Already?’ It just seems like stuff is happening so fast.

“Then finally the day is here, and the night before as you’ll can see I’m sweating — I don’t know if it’s hot in here or I’m nervous or what. Just to see all the people and be with all the people who helped me on this journey to get to this point to where I put a close on my career and leave a legacy here in Boston is just good to bring all those people into one room because it wasn’t me all by myself.”

Unfortunately for Pierce the Celtics got beat down by the Cleveland Cavaliers and his former rival LeBron James by over 20 points.

During garbage time the ABC cameras continued panning to Pierce who looked absolutely miserable as his team got crushed on his retirement day.
