Pepperdine Men’s Hoops Player Gets A Nice Shock Before The Holidays And His Teammates Went Nuts For Him

I don’t want to get all choked up and sappy on y’all, but to say that this type of shit makes me smile is a bit of an understatement. I mean, who doesn’t appreciate a nice little surprise for a college kid who has worked his ass off for the basketball team?

That’s what Pepperdine hoops player Jake Johnson felt today after the team’s head coach, Marty Wilson, presented him with a scholarship after serving as a walk-on for the Waves over the past few years.

Upon hearing the news, Johnson’s teammates went apeshit, hooting and hollering in the gym before mobbing him as if he had just sunk a game-winner.

It feels good when this happens anytime of the year, but coming around the holidays and right before Winter Break has to be even more of a treat for Johnson—who has appeared in all 10 of his career games for the school this season.
