Petra Kvitova, the 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon champion, has suffered injuries from a knife attack that took place in her home in the Czech Republic on Tuesday morning.
The 26-year-old was attacked during a home invasion that is being classified as a burglary attempt as the intruder took around $200 from her house before fleeing the scene.
Kvitova, the 11th ranked player in the word, spoke about the attack and the injuries she sustained on social media, saying she was “fortunate to be alive.”

A police spokesman told blesk.cz, “Today before half past eight in the morning, a 26-year-old woman was attacked near Prostejov. The unidentified perpetrator broke into the apartment using a ruse.”
He also stated that the intruder appears to be a man about 35-years-of-age and a manhunt is currently underway.
