There are thousands and thousands of videos from Philadelphia last night that deserve their own blog posts. People jumping off hotel awnings. Fireworks next to City Hall. A guy proposing to his girl.
This one, though. This one is a personal favorite. Officer Mark Lapenta celebrating with Temple students as the poured onto the streets around Cecil B. Moore.
While there’s a lot of weird out there to confirm whatever preconceived stereotype you have of Philly sports fans, Officer Lapenta’s celebration shows the passion that sparked an entire community.
This Twitter thread from Ben Falk of the 76ers hits all the notes….
For example, this Newsweek story begins: “Between stolen horses, burning Christmas trees, calls for Homeland Security and reports of multiple injuries, the Philadelphia police faced all-out mayhem in the hours following the Eagles' Super Bowl win.”
