At the Tonight Show‘s behest, New Yorkers booed a picture of Robinson Cano. Unbeknownst to them, the new Seattle Mariners second baseman was cleverly hidden behind the picture, Wizard of Oz style. He then miraculously appeared to make the haters red in the face and desperate to defuse the awkward moment.
It was good television, but one wonders why these Yankees fans didn’t see this coming. Fallon’s crew pulled a similar trick with Matt Harvey last year with much fanfare.
A word of warning to anyone who gets approached by a comedian on the street: if what’s happening doesn’t seem funny, YOU are the joke.
