Ronda Rousey Knows Her Old School Nintendo And Really Wants To Play Samus Aran From ‘Metroid’

Ronda Rousey houses a wealth of knowledge when it comes to video games and already appears comfortable enough in her young Hollywood career to begin casting herself in feature roles for scripts that don’t even exist.

In a recent interview with Gamespot, Rousey revealed she’s always been a huge fan of Samus Aran, the character from old school Nintendo’s Metroid. Remember Metroid? Of course you do. Or maybe you’re more familiar with Super Metroid. Either way, Ronda loves Samus.

Let me allow her to explain:

“I’ve always wanted to be Samus. That would be badass. I love how people found out later that it was a hot chick on the inside. And then most of the day you’re in a suit, so you can just hang out and eat donuts and be the star of ‘Metroid.’ I hope they make a movie out of that.”

I’m honestly impressed with the imagination on display here. This is quite the departure from the typical “I wanna be Superwoman!” type stuff that one might expect to hear. And I’m all for this project happening as long as the movie opens with the same tantalizing music that the video game did when it was first introduced… holy crap, 29 YEARS ago.

While we’re here and discussing odd movie requests, how about Mike Tyson starring in Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out?

Casting the rest of the characters would be the real key to the glory. For starters, the always outstanding Sam Mendelsohn, who’s a downright expert at playing a mess, would make for an incredibly convincing Glass Joe. And Brock Lesnar, painted purple as Soda Popinski, would be an obvious fit. All he would need to do is be Brock Lesnar and occasionally laugh like a drunk Russian.

Even the mic shy Brock has the “range” to do that.
