PGA Tour Pro Shares Video Of How Absolutely Brutal The Rough At 2017 U.S. Open Venue Will Be And WOW

The U.S. Open rarely disappoints, but of this video shared by Wesley Bryan is any indication of how difficult the conditions at Erin Hills will be for the 2017 U.S. Open then we are in for a doozy. The primary rough on the course is currently two-feet high. TWO. FEET.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was “Fuck, Phil isn’t going to complete the career grand slam this year.” If the rough remains at this level for the tournament, then hitting fairways is going to be a huge factor in determining the winner. One thing Phil Mickelson isn’t great at? Hitting fairways with the big stick…and, ya know, finishing better than second at the U.S. Open. He is really not great at either of those things.

As much as I want Phil to prevail, and I do, I also would not mind seeing an absolute massacre. That could make for some good TV come Sunday.
