Sergio Garcia Broke a Woman’s Diamond Ring With a Wild Drive

Why do we watch sports? There are many reasons. One of the biggest for me, personally, is the hope something completely new will happen.

Sergio Garcia’s saga at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational yesterday certainly qualifies as something new.

Against all odds, his tee shot on the third hole knocked the diamond off a woman’s ring, sending it flying into the deep rough. The unfortunate incident could have been avoided if someone had just yelled fore karats!

Garcia made lemonade from the lemony situation by helping the woman look for her rock, and getting her phone number so he could pay for the repairs.

That’s a stand-up, but completely necessary move. I’m sure her husband will appreciate it.

The missing gem was eventually found by the helpful pack of onlookers.

Unfortunately for Garcia, he was unable to overcome Rory McIlroy, and fell two strokes short of a victory.
