The bar for awarding walk-on college football players full scholarships has been raised yet again. Western Michigan Broncos walk-on linebacker Kasey Carson had to stop his head coach P.J. Fleck decked out in full pads and helmet during an Oklahoma drill to get his team out of “evening meetings”. Then Kasey watched the jumbotron along with the rest of team as Sly Stallone announced Carson would be getting a full ride in 2016-17.
P.J. Fleck lookin’ not too bad in uni. For a hot nanosecond, I thought maybe that was Sly and I was like, piss test that paison.
Get a load of Stallone loving the “row the boat” motto used by WMU’s football squad. Stallone joy is unlike any other joy.
So, who’s the dude next Sly? That’s billionaire investor Alec Gores who got his degree from Western Michigan in Computer Science. You know you’re a billionaire when you can comfortably lose around $17 million to a racehorse owner in a backgammon sesh.
According to Carson’s player profile, Kasey was a walk-on in 2013 and redshirted. Doesn’t look like he saw any action in 2014, but he played in nine games totaling eight tackles and one tackle for loss in 2015.
In high school, Carson set school records for single season touchdowns and career touchdowns, scoring, single season and career rushing yards in a season.
Reeeeeally thought Carson would also get a walk-on role in Sly’s next movie. Why not turn Kasey into Rudy 2.0?
