For The First Time Ever, A Soccer Star Is Getting His Own Air Jordan (And It’s Not Who You Might Think It Is)

Even 30 years later, everyone still wants to be like Mike. At least that’s what Brazilian soccer star Neymar has decided, because the legendary Brand Jordan is giving him his very own cleat—which is the first time ever a soccer player has gotten that honor.

The Jumpman is traditionally reserved for top-notch ballers or legends in other sports like Derek Jeter in baseball and Roy Jones Jr. in boxing, Neymar is set to join the roster of athletes, bringing a new twist to the rest of the team.

According to SoleCollector.com, the shoe will be a soccer version of the Air Jordan 5 Low—seen above—a classic look that has seen its fair share of various releases and customized colors over the years.

While there aren’t any images or color schemes of Neymar’s shoe yet, the release is all set for Fall of this year, just in time for soccer players to scoop up before returning to the pitch.

It’s an unprecedented move, and one that will definitely have sneakerheads waiting in line for a pair to add to their Jordan collection.
