Spelling Bee Pronouncer Defies Odds, Uses Kelis’ “Milkshake” in a Sentence

Oh, poor Sriram Hathwar. All he wanted was for Spelling Bee impresario Jacques Bailly to use the word feijoda in a sentence. What he got was a bizarre reference to Kelis’ megahit Milkshake.

Perhaps the 1980 champion was up late watching Mean Girls. Perhaps the song really pushed his morning workout over the edge. Whatever the reason, it made for some awkward television.

Hathwar was able to overcome the weird adversity and claim a share of the title.

Bailly, on the other hand, is likely hard at work shoehorning an LFO mention into next year’s crop of sentences.
