Tesla Model X Sets World Record While Drag Racing Lamborghini Aventador

I cut out the first minute and a half of this video and started it at 1:26 because all that was happening was the racer talking about who owned what car. The premise is this: some wealthy dude in South Florida owned both a Lamborghini Aventador SV and Tesla Model X P100D. He wanted to run a drag race test to see which of his cars was faster in the quarter mile.

Miraculously, the Tesla Model X P100D set the quarter-mile record for the fastest SUV time ever recorded AND it managed to beat the Lamborghini Aventador SV. The Tesla absolutely smoked the Lamborghini off the line and the Aventador SV was playing catch-up for the entire race. Ultimately, the Lambo only lost by 0.5 seconds and you can tell from the Aventador’s acceleration that if the race lasted for a half-mile it would’ve been a complete blowout. The Lamborghini wins in later races, but the Tesla Model X P100D took that first race and it set a world record.

I’m consistently blown away with how fucking fast these high-end model Teslas are. I still haven’t had the chance to take one of these cars for a spin and feel that speed myself, so I’m in a constant state of shock whenever I see Tesla speed tests such as this. (h/t Mashable)
