The Onion Spoofs ‘Sport Science’ To Show How Archers Resist The Urge To Shoot Arrows At Spectators

Remember Sport Science? It used to be a standalone show that ran for seven seasons on Fox Sports and ESPN, but now it’s just an occasional segment on SportsCenter. The series won Sports Emmys for “Outstanding Graphic Design” three years in a row, from 2008 – 2010. They broke down Jadeveon Clowney’s monster hit against Michigan in the 2013 Outback Bowl or Michigan’s botched punt against Michigan State in 2015. Dang, Michigan. Your lowlights are all scientific.

Anyway, The Onion spoofed the technologically advanced show to illustrate how archers resist the urge to shoot arrows into the spectator gallery and it’s spectacular.

The pupils dilating get me every time. The throat shot. I don’t know how these actors are able to keep a straight face when filming.

So far, the biggest archery story in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics has been that U.S. archer Brady Ellison looks like a heavier version of Leonardo DiCaprio, but only from certain angles. Is that all ya got to offer, archery?

Archery might have to start reeling off trick shots like this 11-year-old who puts out a flame with an arrow or this girl in yoga pants who shot arrows with her feet while upside down. But, hold off on shooting at people… for now.
