The Week 9 NFL Picks Can’t Hide the Andy Dalton Question

People, however, used to wonder the same about Joe Flacco. He broke the mold last year by winning the Super Bowl after the illustrious Manning (both), Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, and Brady quarterbacked their team to Super Bowl wins in the previous nine years. Can Dalton break through at some point in the same way Flacco (and before him Eli) did? Maybe he can with an elite defense and weapons around him in the same way Flacco and Eli did. He’s still young. Just color me skeptical.

Locks of the Week:

CAROLINA -7.5 over Atlanta
Here we have two teams going in opposite directions. If you can’t beat Arizona on the road, you won’t beat Carolina. Their defensive line will have a field day.

Reggie: Atlanta

San Diego +1.5 over WASHINGTON
Road teams off a bye are a thing. Believe me.

Reggie: Washington

Pittsburgh +7.5 over NEW ENGLAND
The Steelers really laid an egg last week, but there’s no way the Patriots deserve a touchdown after how badly their offense has played. The public sees the score line of last week’s Miami game and thinks it was easy for New England. It wasn’t.

Reggie: New England

Trap Game of the Week:

Kansas City -3.5 over BUFFALO
Why is this spread so close? The Chiefs are undefeated and the Bills are beat up. Why does Vegas build casinos? Don’t outthink Vegas. But then you see that Thad Lewis is doubtful and Jeff Tuel will be at quarterback for Buffalo. Crap.

Reggie: Buffalo

Rest of the Picks:

Tennessee -3.5 over ST. LOUIS
Easily a letdown situation for St. Louis after a devastating end to their last game against Seattle and it’s also a short week. And we’re doing that theme of road teams off the bye.

Reggie: St. Louis

DALLAS -10.5 over Minnesota
You saw Christian Ponder last week. Even the Dallas’ secondary can’t make him look good. Leslie Frazier really needs to improve team morale by doing something like this.

Reggie: Dallas

OAKLAND +2.5 over Philadelphia
The Raiders are a competitive bunch. The Eagles were supposed to be an explosive offense that clearly isn’t without Michael Vick.

Reggie: Oakland

SEATTLE -16.5 over Tampa Bay
The Seahawks looked terrible last week because they couldn’t deal with St. Louis’ pass rush. Tampa Bay doesn’t have a good pass rush. I’d love to see Golden Tate try this with Darrelle Revis.

Reggie: Tampa Bay

Baltimore -2.5 over CLEVELAND
Like I said before, road teams off a bye are a thing. Believe me.

Reggie: Baltimore

Indianapolis -2.5 over HOUSTON
Did the Colts play last week? No. Are on they on the road? Yes. Is this still a thing? Yes.

Reggie: Indianapolis

GREEN BAY -10.5 over Chicago
In Josh McCown I don’t trust. The other road teams off the bye at least have their starting quarterbacks.

Reggie: Green Bay
