UFC champion Conor McGregor is currently under a police investigation in Ireland and it’s all because of a picture he posted on social media.
Yesterday, McGregor posted this picture of himself in a BMW M8 wearing a balaclava and pointing a firearm out of the window with the caption “Put the fight game in the bag and step away from the vehicle”.
After the picture was posted, a spokesperson for the Garda (Irish police) in Dublin told the Irish Independent newspaper that the photo and McGregor’s possession of a potential firearm is being investigated.
We are investigating the circumstances under which the photo was taken. Gardai from Crumlin are investigating.”
There’s a debate amongst police officers and ballistic experts on whether the gun is a Koch MP5 machine pistol with a silencer attached or a replica. Either way due to the strict gun laws in Ireland, McGregor could be facing criminal charges that can result in up to a year in prison just for the possession of a replica firearm.
This is terrible timing for the UFC as they recently announced that McGregor is fighting Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 197 just yesterday.
