What you see above is Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine competing on the pommel horse during the men’s team final on Tuesday at the Rio Olympics.
What you will see below is several other members of the team doing absolutely NOTHING and taking scores of zero.
It’s literally about the strangest thing I have seen in sports and I am not alone in that sentiment.
Wait a minute, Ukraine only put TWO guys up on PB???? What the #@* is that?

Ukraine threw the men's gymnastics team finals like it was a Big Brother comp.

If this is a strategy from Ukraine it is beyond disrespectful to the Swiss who were 9th after QF, to the sport of gymnastics & the Olympics

Great question.
Should Ukraine have withdrawn from the team competition? Let Switzerland in?

I'm so confused, why would Ukraine just scratch a routine during the team final…? Like why even compete then? #gymnastics #Rio2016

Ukraine's gymnastics team basically just did the equivalent of saying "nah I'm good" with the high bar
— Tuna Turner (@SlicedBrie) August 8, 2016
Yeah, I'm looking at what's going on with the Ukraine men's gymnastics team right now. Not a good idea.

NBC gymnastics commentators said they've never seen anything like what Ukraine did. They obviously haven't watched Stick It.
— Larry Richman 🌊 (@larry411) August 9, 2016
the word we have received is that this was a planned strategy by Ukraine – to not put up all gymnasts in the team final….
— Andy Thornton (@AndyThorntonNBC) August 8, 2016
So they did it on purpose? If they didn’t want to compete why didn’t they, as someone suggested, just withdraw and let another country compete?
Super weak move, Ukraine, super weak.
