Well, he didn’t buy the entire thing, but comedian Will Ferrell did announce that he is now a co-owner of an MLS expansion franchise after purchasing a stake in the team. Awesome stuff for the sport, no doubt.
The announcement that Ferrell now has a stake in LAFC – the Galaxy’s cross-town rivals come 2018 – came by way of a press conference, according to ESPN FC.
"This is not a joke."

In toe with the presser, LAFC also revealed the club’s crest, which if we’re being honest, looks pretty badass.

As expected, Ferrell brought the jokes at the press conference; we’ll surely have the whole thing for you should it surface.

ESPN notes that Ferrell will be joining quite a few other celebs in his new ownership stake in Los Angeles F.C.:
The Saturday Night Live alum joins a long list of LAFC owners, including Magic Johnson, Nomar Garciaparra, Mia Hamm Garciaparra, Tony Robbins, Vincent Tan—the owner of Cardiff City Football Club—and ESPN NBA analyst Tom Penn, among others.
This calls for some cowbell!
