WWE Announces Jon Stewart To Host SummerSlam This Weekend

There aren’t too many people out there who dislike former The Daily Show host Jon Stewart. Shit, I still like him because of his cameo in the movie Half Baked as the Enhancement Stoner.

With such fanfare—and some free time for the guy after leaving his former post with TDS—WWE thought that Stewart would be the ideal host for one of their biggest events of the year, announcing today that the comedian would be hosting SummerSlam this weekend.

No stranger to the sport of wrestling, Stewart was engaged in a serious feud with current WWE heavyweight champ Seth Rollins, with the wrestler even interrupting Stewart’s “Moment of Zen” segment during a telecast in Februrary.

Not putting the beef to rest, the two went head-to-head again during the March 2 Raw, leading me to think there’s something in the works for these two to get involved in some way come Sunday’s pay-per-view event.

Years past have given us cheesy celebs making appearances at SummerSlam, but the addition of Jon Stewart is a welcome one, as WWE carries the momentum from his final The Daily Show episode in hopes of attracting a new crowd—and, no doubt, giving fans a memorable moment at the same time.
