When you go to sleep at night what surprises do you awake to? An empty bottle of Maker’s Mark? Regrettable texts to your ex that you don’t recall sending? A puddle of chunder that you had no idea that your friend left in the backseat of your 2004 Mitsubishi Galant? Jeff Bezos also wakes up to revelations such as making over $6 billion overnight and becoming the richest person in the world. Billionaires, they’re just like us!

Bezos woke up on Friday morning after making $6.6 billion overnight following Amazon’s latest Wall Street-pleasing earnings report. Amazon reported $43.7 billion in revenue for the third quarter, sending the stock up 8% in after-hours trading. Bezos, who is the founder and largest stakeholder in Amazon, saw his net worth explode to more than $90 billion. That made the Amazon CEO as the wealthiest person on the planet, beating fellow tech tycoon Bill Gates who’s net worth is estimated to be $90 billion. Gates also had a fantastic Friday when Microsoft stocks had a productive earnings report, raising the stock by approximately $550 million, but it wasn’t enough to stay ahead of Bezos.

This isn’t the first time Bezos was named as the richest person in the world, he captured the elusive crown this past July. On July 27, Amazon’s share price was over $1,050 and his fortunes rose to over $93.1 billion. But Amazon’s share price slipped the next day and Bezos was back to second place behind Gates. Just think how happy you are when you find $10 in a pair of washed jeans, a $6.6 billion discovery must be pretty awesome.
