Start your New Year’s resolution a few weeks early and punch up your resume because you are about to find out where you’re going to want to work in 2018. Glassdoor presented the latest edition of their annual “Best Places to Work” for 2018 and the top company to be employed by is Facebook, which had a company rating of 4.6 out of 5. Rounding out the top five best places to work are Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, In-N-Out Burger, and Google. This is the tenth straight year that job recruiting website Glassdoor has done their top 100-company list. In those 10 years, only three companies have ranked in the “best places to work” since the beginning — Apple, Bain & Company, and Google.
Some other notable observations about the list are that Apple plummeted from 36th to 84th on the list from last year. Airbnb, which was #35 in 2017 and #1 in 2016, did not even make 2018’s “Best Places to Work” list. Huge companies such as Adidas, Electronic Arts, Hilton, T-Mobile, and United Airlines made Glassdoor’s list for the first time ever in 2018.
Glassdoor’s methodology was to examine companies with more than 1,000 employees, and it’s based on employee reviews submitted since November 2016. “Each list was compiled using Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, and each company overall rating determined based on the quantity, quality and consistency of reviews during the period of eligibility,” the employer-reviewing site stated. The rankings are a result of Glassdoor’s 10th annual Employees’ Choice Awards, which weighed thousands of anonymous and voluntary reviews from current and former employees over the past year.
