Final Video Of Chester Bennington Shows A Happy Dad Only Hours Before His Death

The widow of Chester Bennington released what is thought to be the final non-performance video before the late Linkin Park singer’s death. Talinda Bennington posted a seemingly happy Chester Bennington playing with his son on July 18, 2017, roughly 36 hours prior to his death. “My next tweet is the most personal tweet I have ever done,” Talinda wrote on Twitter. “I’m showing this so that you know that depression doesn’t have a face or a mood.”

Then she posted a video of Chester playing with his son and eating something that tasted horrible. “This is what depression looked like to us just 36 hrs b4 his death. He loved us SO much & we loved him. #fuckdepression #MakeChesterProud,” she wrote. The late singer can be seen laughing and joking in his last video.

Since her husband’s death, Talinda has been bringing awareness to mental illness with the hashtag #FuckDepression. On Thursday, she was interviewed by by Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx on the show “Sixx Sense” and she explained the hashtag.

“One of those sleepless nights, I was on Twitter and reading through hundreds of condolences to myself and my children. I started to notice that fans were saying they were hurting, and they didn’t know what to do. It weighed heavily on my heart, because their words were comforting me. I just thought to myself, what if we could just talk to each other?

My husband and the band worked for 20+ years creating this amazing fanbase, just a strong network of people, they’ve made themselves as human as possible to everybody. I just thought, you know what, I’m going to use that. So somebody had tweeted me that her sister had committed suicide in December, and six days later her other sister committed suicide, and then her mother was dying of cancer. I just tweeted out, ‘LP family, let’s let her know she’s loved and needed.’ That just kind of took off.

Mike started #MakeChesterProud, which I thought was awesome, trying to spread positivity, so I tagged that. Somebody on Twitter said, ‘I’m so sick of being depressed all my life, [fuck] depression.’ I read that, and I just heard Chester, because he was always saying the F word.”

Nikki jumped in and said, “He loved the F word, oh my god.” Talinda replied by saying, “Right? Trying living with that, with our children. I’m always telling him, ‘Babe, stop.’ He would tell the kids, ‘When you pay your own bills, you can talk like this.’ So I just saw Chester saying [fuck] depression, so I thought, we should create a hashtag, and it just took off.”
