Zac Efron, Russell Crowe, and Bill Murray star in the first trailer for The Greatest Beer Run Ever, the upcoming war dramedy from Dumb and Dumber and Green Book director Peter Farrelly.

The Greatest Beer Run Ever is based on the book of the same name, which was written by John “Chick” Donohue, the character that Efron is playing in the film. The film is directed by Peter Farrelly, who made a name for himself in the 90s directing comedies with his brother such as Dumb and Dumber, Shallow Hal, Me, Myself, and Irene, and There’s Something About Mary.

Farrelly has since earned himself a bit more prestige and credibility in the industry, though, as his 2018 film Green Book — somewhat controversially — won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, while also scoring Mahershala Ali a second Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor.

In addition to Efron, the film stars Oscar winner Russell Crowe as Coates and Bill Murray as The Colonel. The Greatest Beer Run Ever will hit both theaters and AppleTV+ on Friday, September 30. Given the fact that Farrelly’s previous film was a Best Picture winner and that the cast list boasts the likes of Crowe and Murray, it could be argued that this role is the biggest of Efron’s career so far, certainly since the likes of The Greatest Showman and Baywatch back in 2017.

Russell Crowe, on the other hand, has been quite prolific over the last year or so, having starred in Thor: Love and Thunder earlier this summer while also having Poker Face, Kraven the Hunter, The Georgetown Project, and The Greatest Beer Run Ever due to release over the next year.
