If you’re as big of a fan of self-hatred as me, then you spend plenty of time browsing real estate listings for homes you’ll never be able to afford on the off chance you’ll one day end up in a situation where you can make the vision board in your head (or, if you care that much, the Pinterest board on your phone) a reality.

As someone who has bounced around my fair share of incredibly cliche New York City apartments in the past few years, I’ve spent plenty of times fantasizing about luxuries like “dishwashers” and “air conditioning” while waiting for the opportunity to escape from the concrete jungle where nightmares are made of. I have an idea of what my perfect place in life looks like, but if a recent study is any indication, I might have to ignore the sage advice of Shia LeBeouf and let my dreams be dreams forever.

Homes.com and SWNS Media recently conducted a study of 2,000 Americans about what their dream home would look like if money was no object. They asked people for information concerning location, size, and amenities, and based on the final results, the average person would have to drop $879,000 to make their dreams a reality.

The study also grouped the data demographically to see how preferences differed from generation to generation, and it seems like millennials have some particular demands.

  5. Fireplace
  6. Hardwood floors
  7. Open floor plan
  8. Stainless-steel appliances
  9. Balcony with a view
  10. Lots of windows
  11. A pool
  12. Gourmet kitchen
  13. Smart-home technology
  14. Marble countertops
  15. A hidden room
  16. A library
  17. A bar area
  18. A man cave/ she shed
  19. Heated floors
  20. Circular driveway
  21. Granite throughout
  22. Crown molding
  23. Playroom for children
  24. Beach access
  25. Rooftop space

I’ll take one of each, please.
